What Mary Brown's Expects
From Its Franchisees

Commitment

Personal commitment. Sound financing. The right location. These are the three essential elements required to establish a strong profitable franchise.

You must be prepared to commit yourself totally, during the initial stages at least, to establishing your business. It will demand all of your time, and your mental and physical resources to set up an effective, smooth running business. And you can expect it to touch on your family life, too, as you look to them for moral support in your new venture.

Successfully operating a franchise is not an arm's length proposition. While you may, at some time, want to put in a manager, you should be able to do every job yourself, and be able to teach anyone else.

You must also be prepared to make a commitment to the system.

Mary Brown's superb product, efficient operation, healthy profit margins and strong growth are the result of a fully-tested, finely-tuned system. It's why so much emphasis is placed on training - and why Mary Brown's insists that the system be followed faithfully. THE SYSTEM WORKS!

Financing

Along with commitment, you need sound financing. Sufficient financial resources to build (if necessary), equip and furnish your outlet; to promote and operate it properly. It is important that your finances not be stretched too thin and that you have the funds to carry you comfortably through the start-up period.

Remember, Mary Brown's will guide you in estimating your investment and operating costs and assist you in obtaining financing if required.

Location

You must be in the right market with the right location.

Mary Brown's is presently interested in establishing franchises in a number of market areas. Perhaps one of these is your area of choice. As long as your proposed location does not conflict with the trading area of an existing or planned Mary Brown's outlet, chances are that we will have a mutual interest.

Location is one of the most crucial factors in any retail operation. It must take into consideration such things as pedestrian and vehicular traffic flows, access and parking, sight lines, competition and local planning regulations. Mary Brown's will help you understand and assess these complex issues in determining a location's potential and will assist you in the final selection of your site.

If you should already own or have rights to suitable real estate, so much the better. If not, we will be prepared to spend the time to find the right spot for your Mary Brown's restaurant. It's an essential ingredient for your long-term success.
