But first... a little bit of history...

In 1969 Newfoundlanders Pat Tarrant and Cyril Fleming opened their first Mary Brown's restaurant in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador under the original name, Golden Skillet. During their first year they opened two more restaurants in Newfoundland under the Golden Skillet name. The name was later changed to Mary Brown's in honor of the wife of the U.S. creator of the original chicken recipe.

From 1969 to 1978, Mary Brown's reputation for taste and quality grew with fifteen more franchises opening in Newfoundland and Labrador, and one franchise opening in Halifax. In 1972 the first Mary Brown's was opened in Ontario. Since then, Mary Brown's Famous Chicken & Taters! has grown to more than 85 locations in Alberta, Ontario, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland & Labrador.

In 2007 the company was purchased by Mr Gregory Roberts. Since that time the company has grown to become the second largest chain of quick service chicken restaurants in Canada – and is experiencing the highest sales volume in its 40-year history.

Today...

Today, Mary Brown's is continuing expansion in Canada, and is developing Master Territories internationally.

Above all, Mary Brown's is committed to ensuring the quality of our product and our brand in every location that we operate. As such, we have chosen to limit the number of international markets we develop each year. This way we can provide the best possible support to each new international market and guarantee that franchisees deliver the best possible product and service to their customers.
